And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and Moses his servant.
Exodus 14:31
The power of the LORD God is mighty.
It is probably best for you to allow that statement to sit and marinate inside of you for a bit. Reread it, reflect on it, then continue on.
When we hear, see, observe, experience, and know his power it brings us to a humble place- a place in which we can trust him over our circumstances, recognizing that he is greater than ourselves or anything we face. The Israelites witnessed it firsthand and it brought them to a place of reverence and awe.
Do you ever read the Bible and wonder how it felt to see the Red Sea part, walking on dry ground and seeing walls of water on either side? Or the fire fall from heaven on the altar on Mount Carmel after standing all day long in anticipation? Or watching as a lame man, carried around to beg for years, in an instant found strength to stand on his own two feet? I know that I wanted to not just read about God’s powerful miracles anymore but desired to experience them, feel the emotion of witnessing them, and the wonder of awe in his presence.
I had gone to church my whole life but had not experienced his might. If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), then his power should be on display today and tomorrow and the day after that. I mean, I was basing my entire life on the fact that he raised the Messiah from the dead and that I would also be raised. So, if the power of the Lord was not still at work, my hope and faith was useless.
If you are on this journey, then I encourage you to come to him, invite him, and allow him to be the Awesome God that he is. Come share in the experiences that he has given us. This is the God we serve and worship, the Creator of the universe, and the Author of life. He is good, loving, merciful, and MIGHTY!!
